Examination Type:

GATE Examination consists of a single paper of 3 Hours duration, which contains 65 Questions carrying a maximum of 100 Marks. The Question paper will consist of only multiple choice objective questions

Based on the analysis of last 10 years (2003-2012) GATE Electrical engineering previous years question papers below are the number of questions appearing from each subject (Approx).

From the above tabular analysis we can say that Engineering Mathematics, Electric Circuits, Electric machines, Power system, Analog and Digital Electronics  and Power electronics are very important subjects that you should never ignore, Of course Aptitude and General ability too as it carries 15marks.

Online Passport Application Process (and Documents required)

Step 1 Download the e-Form through the "Download e-Form" link on the Home Page.
 Note: You must have the latest version of Acrobat Reader (9 or above) to open and fill these Forms.

Step 2 Fill the downloaded e-Form and click the "Validate & Save" button.This will generate an XML file which will be required later for uploading in the system.


Step 3 Register through the Passport Seva Portal and create a User ID. (Click on "Register" link under the Online Application Filling section on the Home Page).


Step 4 Login to the Passport Seva Portal with the User ID created in Step 3.


Step 5 Upload the XML file (generated in Step 2) through the "Upload e-Form" link.Do not upload the PDF form at this stage as only XML file is accepted by the system.


Step 6 Click the "Manage Appointment" link on Applicant Home page to schedule an appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).  Locate Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)


Step 7 Click the "Print Application Receipt" link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.


Step 8 Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) where appointment has been taken, along with original documents.
